Q1:

A: We can supply rapid prototype samples in ABS and also wire cut samples on request. As part of the extrusion process we can also offer a sample for fit and function purposes.

Q2:

Yes, to an extent. We can produce small 3D printed samples very quickly, enabling you to proof your design effectively before production begins.  We can also have samples wire eroded in a relatively short timeframe by one of our trusted partners.  The final option available to our customers is to have a custom extrusion die cut, and samples pulled from the new extrusion. If you’d like to know more about the prototyping options available for your project, please contact us - a member of our technical team will be happy to let you know what we can do for you.

Q3:

As a complete aluminium extrusion solution supplier, we’re proud to be able to manage our customers’ projects right the way from design to delivery. In the early stages of your project, we can produce 3D samples in-house, helping you to proof the new designs effectively and work with us to make any adjustments before production begins. In addition, we can provide aluminium extrusion samples for dimensional purposes, or full production samples. The cost for this is a set-fee, dependent on the quantities and lengths needed.

Q4:

Yes, we have an aluminium extrusion 3D printer here at Edmo. We use our 3D printer to create prototypes of extruded aluminium components and extrusion dies, working from CAD drawings for precise results. Using an aluminium extrusion 3D printer means we’re able to fashion quick and cost-effective samples of your product, giving you something to examine and, if necessary, take away and show to your colleagues. Customers often find that having a 3D model enables them to visualise their design more easily, helping to iron out mistakes or imperfections before production begins.

Q5:

Yes. Our design and technical department has invested in the latest computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided manufacture (CAM) programming systems. This - coupled with other equipment such as our coordinate measuring machine -  enables us to create prototype aluminium extrusions from technical drawings, sketches, and numerical data.

Our computer-integrated manufacturing enables us to create prototypes for even the most demanding geometries. However, the accuracy of our prototypes will of course always be better, the more information we get from you. Our technical team can advise you on taking a product from concept to creation - please contact us for more advice.

Q6:

Yes, we can. There are two options available to you. Firstly, wire erosion (otherwise known as electrical discharge machining (EDM) or spark machining), in which electrical sparks are used to cut the work piece. Alternatively, we offer a 3D printing service. Our technical and design team will be able to advise you which process is most effective for your project.
